After years of dazzling on the global stage, Australian dancer Sharna Burgess is home — and this time, she’s brought her fiancé, Beverly Hills, 90210 star Brian Austin Green.
Joh caught up with Sharna Burgess and partner Brian Austin Green to chat life, love and Dancing with the Stars, as the couple settle into life in Australia while Sharna takes a seat at the judging table.
Better Homes and Gardens stars impressed the judges
Reflecting on past contestants, Sharna had high praise for Better Homes and Gardens hosts Adam Dovile and Charlie Albone.
“Adam had the moves,” she says. “Charlie had potential — he just didn’t get the opportunity.”
Blending families and parenting across continents
Parenting five children — including their son Zane — is no small feat, especially while splitting time between the US and Australia. But the couple say their “village” makes it possible.
“We bring the kids when we can,” Sharna says. “My mum is grandma of the year. So is Brian’s mum.”
Brian, now more than 20 years into fatherhood, adds, “You figure it out as you go. The kids, Noah, Bodie and Journey, are obsessed with Zane.”
Sharna adds: We’re so lucky how well they’ve all blended, but there are still four young kids in a house.”
Why Wagga Wagga still holds a special place in Sharna’s heart
Sharna says she took Brian to her hometown of Wagga Wagga last time they were here and plans to take the whole family this time.
“I have such fond memories — the lake, skiing, and of course, ballroom dancing,” she says.
Her dance career began there and took her to Broadway by the age of 18, eventually leading to her appearance on Dancing With the Stars.
Will we see Sharna back on the dancefloor?
Yes — and she’s got big plans. “This body is going to move this season,” she says. “It’s an ambitious routine that I have created. But I’m grateful I get to do that here on the show.”
