The key to happiness is, as Oprah would say, ‘living your best life.’
According to the United Nations’ 2018 World Happiness Report, our best chances of following Ms Winfrey’s advice and living our happiest lives would be to pack-up our havaianas and move to Finland.
Finland is officially the happiest nation in the world (and let’s face it, happiness is what we all strive for in life). Overtaking Norway (second), Denmark (third) and Iceland (fourth). The report’s authors found that all the Nordic countries scored highly on income, health, life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust, generosity and for the first time ever, ability to welcome immigrants.
On the flip side, the United States dropped five places from the previous year; obesity, crisis of substance abuse and depression are cited as reasons the country with the world’s largest economy came in 18th place.
Australia just scrapped in the top ten behind, Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand and Sweden.
These are the world’s happiest countries:
1. Finland
2. Norway
3. Denmark
4. Iceland
5. Switzerland
6. Netherlands
7. Canada
8. New Zealand
9. Sweden
10. Australia
