Editor-approved tips for shopping early Black Friday bargains
According to Afterpay’s Festive forecast, 43% of Australians plan to start shopping earlier, and with 52% of them planning to spend on clothing and shoes, 32% prioritising interior and decor buys, and 30% stocking up on health and beauty products, there’s set to be fierce competition to snag the best deals. Here’s how to beat the masses and shop like a pro.
Don’t wait for the deals to come to you
It can be tempting to rely on social media to deliver all the best sales right to your inbox, but by the time you get around to browsing, it’s pretty likely the best bargains will already be sold out. Be proactive, use our early deals guides, and when you find something you love, take it straight to checkout.
Create your wishlist
We’ve all been there: browsing Black Friday sales only to be distracted by pieces we don’t really need (and forgetting what it was we were actually looking for). Creating a wishlist ahead of time ensures that you won’t forget about the practical purchases you’ve been waiting to get when you’re sale-surfing.
Don’t settle
If you’ve been dreaming of a Dyson Airwrap for months, only to find it sold out on sale day, don’t settle for a dupe that you know won’t hit the mark. If you do need to find an alternative for a wishlist item, check reviews and return policies first.
Take off your ‘sale goggles’
It can be tempting to add hugely discounted items to your cart, but take a second to consider whether you really want it, or if you’re just being enticed by the price.
Stock up on your go-tos
Black Friday sales aren’t just for big-ticket items; they can be a great way to stock up on repeat buys like makeup, skincare, and cleaning products too.
All your questions about early Black Friday deals, answered
Black Friday 2025 falls on November 28, and Cyber Monday takes place the following week. However, early sales are already popping up across some of our favourite brands, so, from my perspective, the Black Friday season is already in full swing.
Early Black Friday sales have already started, and more are set to drop in the coming weeks. For up-to-date coverage of the best deals, keep an eye on this page, as I’ll be adding updates as they come in.
Some of the best brands to shop with over Black Friday include Dyson, Myer, Mocka, Amazon, and The ICONIC. But for a full list of the best brands to shop, refer to our ultimate Black Friday sale guide, updated regularly.
It’s worth waiting for early Black Friday sales, but holding out for the official event could lead to sold-out items. With global spending predicted to hit $80 to $82 billion over the course of the shopping event, there’s a lot of competition for bargain items this year.
My recommendation is to take advantage of deals that pop up in the month leading up to the event. Oftentimes, early deals are just as good, and shopping these saves you the panic of racing other like-minded shoppers to checkout.
It’s common for sale prices to drop further on Black Friday, but there’s no guarantee. Plus, early Black Friday deals often sell out before the shopping event even takes place, so it’s worth purchasing your wishlist items while you still can.
